Report: US Senate can set Russia sanctions for preliminary vote Wed
WASHINGTON, Jun 7 (PRIME) -- New sanctions against Russia can be submitted for a procedural vote of the U.S. Senate already on Wednesday, Bloomberg reported citing the Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell.
McConnell declined to comment on the measures which the U.S. can take.
A procedural vote will not mean an automatic adoption of new sanctions but the measures can come into force if approved by the Senate, the House of Representatives and the president.
The earlier introduced sanctions against Russia have not been formalized as a law, which makes it easier for the U.S. administration to amend and possibly repeal them. Several bills on sanctions are being considered separately.
